Industrial Electrician

About the Role

A prominent manufacturing facility in Sunderland is seeking a qualified Industrial Electrician to maintain and repair its complex electrical systems and machinery. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the production line, minimizing downtime, and adhering to all relevant electrical safety regulations. The successful candidate will be a skilled tradesperson with a strong background in industrial environments, capable of working both independently and as part of a maintenance team to keep operations running efficiently in Sunderland .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, test, and maintain electrical motors, generators, control systems, and power distribution equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial machinery and control panels using appropriate testing instruments.
• Read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to identify and address potential issues before they cause failures.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with current IET Wiring Regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Assist with the design and modification of electrical control systems to improve efficiency and safety.

Requirements

• Qualified Industrial Electrician with recognized certification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
• Proven experience working as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to use a wide range of electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• A valid UK driving license and the ability to work flexible hours if required for operational needs.
