Industrial Electrician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Industrial Electrician to join their maintenance and engineering team in Cardiff . You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within industrial settings, ensuring operational continuity and safety. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving electrical issues, conducting preventative maintenance, and contributing to the overall efficiency of our industrial operations. You will work closely with other maintenance staff and production teams to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance in the demanding field of Installation & Maintenance .

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of industrial electrical systems, machinery, and control panels.
• Perform routine inspections and diagnostic tests on electrical equipment to identify potential faults and ensure optimal performance.
• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies, implementing effective repairs to minimize disruption.
• Conduct preventative maintenance tasks as per schedule to ensure the longevity and reliability of electrical assets.
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide installation and repair work.
• Ensure all work carried out complies with current BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant safety standards.

Requirements

• Recognized electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation).
• Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution, control systems, motors, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with fault finding and diagnostics on complex electrical circuits and PLCs is essential.
• Possession of relevant testing and inspection qualifications (e.g., 2391) is advantageous.
• Must hold a valid UK driving licence and be able to work flexible hours to cover essential maintenance needs in Cardiff .
