Information Security Administrator

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and proactive Information Security Administrator to join their IT department in Derby . This role is critical for the day-to-day management and maintenance of security systems, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets. You will be responsible for implementing security controls, monitoring system logs, responding to basic security events, and supporting broader security initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundational understanding of IT security principles and a commitment to upholding the organization's security posture within a structured, on-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain security tools, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
• Monitor system logs and security alerts for suspicious activities and policy violations.
• Assist in the deployment and configuration of security patches and updates.
• Support incident response activities, including initial investigation and documentation.
• Conduct user access reviews and manage security-related permissions.
• Contribute to the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in IT administration or a dedicated information security support role.
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network fundamentals.
• Understanding of basic security concepts and best practices.
• Ability to follow established procedures and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
