Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Engineer to join their established security team based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical security controls that protect the organisation's sensitive information and systems. You will play an active part in building and enhancing our security posture, working with a variety of technologies to defend against evolving cyber threats. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical aptitude and a proactive approach to security challenges, contributing to a robust and resilient defence framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control solutions.
• Develop and deploy security automation scripts to streamline security operations and incident response.
• Conduct security reviews of new systems and applications, ensuring adherence to security policies and standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve security-related issues, providing timely technical support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of security systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Participate in security awareness training initiatives and provide guidance to end-users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in information security engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong knowledge of network security protocols and architecture (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS).
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container security is advantageous.
• Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell for automation.
• Understanding of threat landscapes and risk management principles.
