Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Information Security Engineer to enhance their security infrastructure at their Birmingham headquarters. Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
• Develop and maintain security monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
• Automate security processes and workflows using scripting and relevant tools to improve efficiency.
• Participate in security architecture reviews and provide recommendations for security enhancements.
• Conduct security risk assessments and collaborate with IT teams to implement remediation plans.
• Maintain documentation for security systems, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in a dedicated information security engineering role.
• Hands-on experience with network security devices, security monitoring tools, and vulnerability management.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation.
• Understanding of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong knowledge of security protocols, networking concepts, and operating system security.
