About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Information Security Engineer to enhance their security infrastructure at their Birmingham headquarters. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and managing security solutions that protect the company's critical systems and data from cyber threats. You will work hands-on with a variety of security technologies, playing a key role in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our information assets. Key Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
- Develop and maintain security monitoring and alerting systems to detect and respond to potential threats in real-time.
- Automate security processes and workflows using scripting and relevant tools to improve efficiency.
- Participate in security architecture reviews and provide recommendations for security enhancements.
- Conduct security risk assessments and collaborate with IT teams to implement remediation plans.
- Maintain documentation for security systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in a dedicated information security engineering role.
- Hands-on experience with network security devices, security monitoring tools, and vulnerability management.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation.
- Understanding of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, networking concepts, and operating system security.
