Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and skilled Information Security Engineer to join their dynamic security team based in Birmingham . You will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects the organisation's data and systems. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
• Conduct regular security audits and reviews of IT infrastructure and applications to ensure compliance and identify vulnerabilities.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, developing remediation plans to prevent recurrence.
• Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and standards.
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security best practices into infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in information security engineering or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of network security principles , protocols, and technologies.
• Experience with cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISO 27001 or NIST.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH are advantageous.
