Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Information Security Engineer to join their expanding team in Birmingham . You will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing the security infrastructure that protects the company's systems and data. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge security solutions, collaborating with IT operations and development teams to embed security into the entire technology lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
• Implement and manage security monitoring tools, analyzing logs and alerts to detect and respond to threats.
• Conduct security architecture reviews and provide recommendations for improving existing systems.
• Develop and automate security processes and scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure security requirements are met during system design and implementation.
• Participate in security incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in an information security engineering role.
• Proficiency with network security technologies and protocols.
• Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
• Knowledge of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements.
