Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Information Security Engineer to bolster their security infrastructure in Birmingham . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing security controls to protect the company's digital assets from internal and external threats. Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint security tools.
• Configure and manage security monitoring systems to detect and alert on suspicious activities.
• Perform regular security patching and updates for operating systems and applications.
• Assist in the development and execution of security awareness training programs for employees.
• Participate in security incident response activities, helping to investigate and resolve security events.
• Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a cybersecurity or information security engineering role.
• Proficiency with network security principles and technologies.
• Experience with cloud security best practices (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus.
