Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Information Security Engineer to join their dedicated IT team based in Cardiff . This is an on-site position where you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects the company's critical data and systems. You will work closely with other IT professionals to ensure that security measures are robust, up-to-date, and effectively mitigate emerging threats, playing a vital role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of our digital environment within the vibrant city of Cardiff .

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems.
• Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and remediate weaknesses.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, coordinating remediation efforts with relevant teams.
• Assist in the development and delivery of security awareness training for employees.
• Stay current with the latest security threats and technologies, recommending and implementing improvements.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Information Security Engineer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with security tools such as firewalls, antivirus software, SIEM, and vulnerability management platforms.
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security configurations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications like Security+, Network+, or CCNA Security are a plus.
