Information Security Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
• Actively monitor network and system logs for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
• Perform regular security patching and system hardening across servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of security architecture diagrams and documentation.
• Assist in the investigation of security incidents, including root cause analysis and remediation planning.
• Support the compliance efforts by ensuring security controls meet regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in information security engineering or operations.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, and common attack vectors.
• Experience with cloud security concepts and working within a hybrid cloud environment.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation of security tasks is a plus.
• Strong analytical abilities and a methodical approach to problem-solving within the Birmingham area.
