About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Information Security Engineer to bolster their security capabilities in Birmingham . This role is critical in designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical security controls that protect our client's information systems and data. You will work closely with IT operations and development teams to embed security into the infrastructure lifecycle, ensuring robust protection against cyber threats. Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, and SIEM solutions.
- Perform regular security patching and configuration management for servers and network devices.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, including system architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
- Participate in security incident response activities and post-incident reviews.
- Collaborate with application development teams to ensure secure coding practices and application security.
- Conduct security audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in information security engineering or a similar technical security role.
- Proficiency with security tools and technologies, including vulnerability scanners and threat intelligence platforms.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, networking protocols, and common security vulnerabilities.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
