Information Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Information Security Engineer to join their technical security team in Milton Keynes . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and operational management of security technologies and solutions to protect the company's information assets. You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining various security tools, performing regular health checks, and responding to security alerts. This is a hands-on technical position for an individual passionate about cybersecurity, eager to contribute to a robust defense strategy and work with advanced security platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and web application firewalls.
• Implement and manage endpoint security solutions, ensuring all devices are protected against malware and other threats.
• Develop and execute security testing procedures, including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
• Monitor security logs and alerts using SIEM tools, investigating potential security incidents and escalating as needed.
• Collaborate with IT operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of system design and deployment.
• Provide technical expertise and support for security-related projects and initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in information security engineering or a similar technical security role.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and antivirus solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
• Relevant certifications like CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or GIAC certifications are advantageous.
