Information Security Manager (Data Protection Focus)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Information Security Manager with a strong specialization in Data Protection to lead their initiatives in Oxford . This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive data security strategies, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, and protecting sensitive information. You will manage a team, oversee data governance, and work closely with legal and IT departments to uphold the highest standards of data security and privacy. This is a key leadership position for an individual dedicated to safeguarding organizational data assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust data protection strategies and policies in alignment with GDPR and other relevant privacy laws.
• Oversee the management of personal data, ensuring its secure collection, storage, processing, and disposal.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and systems involving personal data.
• Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and other privacy-related inquiries.
• Lead and mentor the data protection and privacy team, fostering a culture of compliance and security awareness.
• Collaborate with IT, legal, and business units to ensure integrated security and privacy controls across the organization.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Law, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in information security, with at least 3 years focused specifically on data protection and privacy.
• In-depth knowledge of GDPR , CCPA, and other international data privacy regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks and policies.
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPP/US are highly desirable.
