Information Security Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Information Security Officer to oversee and manage the security posture of their operations in Sunderland . This on-site role is crucial for ensuring the protection of sensitive data and IT systems against a wide range of cyber threats. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive security policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and responding to security incidents. This position requires a proactive approach to security management and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data protection within the company's physical locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures across the organisation.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Manage and monitor security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
• Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery from security breaches.
• Provide security awareness training to employees and promote a culture of security consciousness.
• Liaise with external security vendors, auditors, and regulatory bodies as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in information security, risk management, or compliance.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are highly preferred.
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective security strategies and policies.
• Strong understanding of current cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
