Information Security Specialist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Information Security Specialist to join their team based remotely, with occasional travel to Milton Keynes if needed. This role focuses on the hands-on implementation and maintenance of security controls, monitoring network activity, and responding to security alerts. You will play a key part in protecting our client's systems and data against a wide range of cyber threats. This position is ideal for an individual passionate about cybersecurity, eager to contribute to a robust security program in a collaborative, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage security tools, including antivirus , firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor security alerts and logs for suspicious activities, investigating and escalating as necessary.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
• Perform regular system patching and vulnerability management across various platforms.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of security awareness training for staff.
• Support the incident response team in containing and remediating security breaches.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline.
• 2-4 years of experience in an information security or IT support role with a security focus.
• Familiarity with network security concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP.
• Experience with security monitoring tools and vulnerability scanning software.
• Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security configurations.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues.
