About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Information Security Specialist to join their team in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK . This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of the security function, focusing on the implementation and monitoring of security controls. You will play a crucial part in protecting the organisation's information assets by identifying and mitigating security risks. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and a hands-on approach to security operations, contributing to a secure and resilient IT environment in a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security controls, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems.
• Monitor security alerts and investigate potential security incidents, escalating as needed.
• Conduct regular security awareness training and phishing simulations for employees.
• Assist in vulnerability management, performing scans and coordinating remediation efforts.
• Maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and incident response plans.
• Support IT projects by providing security guidance and ensuring security requirements are met.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in an information security role.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including networking, operating systems, and common threats.
• Experience with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection.
• Familiarity with security frameworks like ISO 27001 or NIST.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant certifications like CompTIA Security+ are beneficial.
