Instrumentation and Control Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join their innovative team in Glasgow . This role is critical for the design, development, and maintenance of sophisticated control systems and instrumentation used in various industrial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of measurement and control loops, contributing significantly to process optimization and operational safety. This position requires a hands-on approach and operates predominantly from our client's Glasgow facility, fostering close collaboration with engineering and operational teams to drive technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and select instrumentation for process measurement and control applications.
• Develop and implement control strategies and logic for PLCs and DCS systems.
• Configure and calibrate instruments for pressure, temperature, flow, and level measurement.
• Troubleshoot and maintain complex instrumentation and control systems in industrial environments.
• Conduct root cause analysis for control system failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all designs and installations meet stringent safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering , Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering .
• Proficiency with PLC/DCS programming and configuration software (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Emerson).
• Strong understanding of process control principles and P&ID development.
• Experience with hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and diagnostic skills.
