Instrumentation and Control Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join their dynamic team in Reading . This role is central to the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated instrumentation and control systems across various industrial processes. You will ensure the optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of automated systems by selecting, configuring, and integrating state-of-the-art control technologies. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, control valves, and PLCs.
• Develop control logic, P&ID diagrams, loop diagrams, and cause & effect matrices.
• Configure and program industrial control systems (e.g., DCS, SCADA, PLCs) and associated software.
• Perform calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control equipment.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Collaborate with process engineers, project managers, and maintenance teams to optimize system performance.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related control systems discipline.
• Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining instrumentation and control systems in industrial settings.
• Proficiency with major control system platforms (e.g., Siemens PCS7, Honeywell Experion, Rockwell Logix).
• Strong understanding of process control principles, feedback loops, and automation strategies.
• Experience with various types of industrial instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to safety.
