Insurance Broker / Account Handler – About the role

This role is an excellent opportunity for an individual who already has experience in insurance broking or account handling to use their existing knowledge to get involved in all types of commercial and personal insurances.

My client are looking for someone who is driven to find solutions and has a passion of winning and securing business. The role focuses on placing commercial and personal lines business ensuring that risks are placed efficiently and effectively in the market.

You will be acting as the first point of contact for both new and existing brokers requiring assistance in placing risks. The primary focus is on delivering excellent service, building strong broker and insurer relationships, and providing expert guidance on coverage and market solutions.

Insurance Broker / Account Handler – Key duties

Respond to broker enquiries promptly, professionally, and in line with agreed SLAs.

Take full ownership of broker enquiries and quotation requests, adopting a proactive “can-do” approach to resolution.

Provide technical guidance and market insight to support brokers with both commercial and personal lines placements.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ensuring consistent engagement and high levels of satisfaction.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all broker interactions and activity on internal systems, including accounts transactions.

Act as a trusted advisor and “critical friend” to brokers, offering constructive challenge and support where required.

Support onboarding of new brokers, including introductions and initial engagement activities as required.

Proactively identify broker needs, training opportunities, and business development prospects in collaboration with the Broker Development Team.

Ensure all customer-facing documentation is compliant with both FCA and internal requirements.

Insurance Broker / Account Handler – Key requirements

A minimum of 2 years’ experience within an insurance broking environment.

Experience across both Commercial and Personal Lines.

A strong technical knowledge of insurance products, insurer market appetite, and market practices.

Experience of using Acturis and familiarity of using Insurer Portals

Strong customer service ethic with a focus on exceeding broker expectations.

Solid understanding of FCA compliance requirements and regulatory frameworks.
