Insurance Claims Handler

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and conscientious Insurance Claims Handler to join their busy claims department in Portsmouth . You will be responsible for managing a caseload of claims from first notification of loss through to settlement, ensuring timely and fair resolution for policyholders. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. You will be a vital part of the team, contributing to the smooth operation of claims processes in the Hampshire region, working within a collaborative office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and accurately record new insurance claims, gathering all necessary information from policyholders and third parties.
• Investigate claims, assessing liability, coverage, and policy terms to determine the appropriate course of action.
• Communicate effectively with policyholders, providing updates and explaining policy conditions and settlement offers.
• Liaise with loss adjusters, repairers, and legal representatives as required to resolve claims efficiently.
• Process payments and manage claim files in accordance with company procedures and service level agreements.
• Identify potential fraudulent claims and escalate them to the appropriate investigation teams.

Requirements

• Previous experience in an insurance claims handling role is essential.
• Good understanding of insurance principles and policy wordings.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with claims management software.
