About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Insurance Underwriter to join their established team in Coventry . This role is crucial in assessing and managing risks associated with insurance applications, ensuring the profitability and solvency of the company. You will play a key part in evaluating potential risks, setting appropriate premiums, and defining terms and conditions for various insurance policies. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in risk assessment and contribute to strategic decision-making within a leading insurance institution, working directly within our Coventry offices to collaborate with brokers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze insurance applications, assessing risks based on provided data, historical information, and industry trends.
- Determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing (premiums) to ensure profitability and manage risk exposure.
- Liaise with insurance brokers and agents to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the insurance distribution network.
- Stay updated on market changes, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks within the insurance industry.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and strategies for specific insurance products.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Insurance Underwriter , with a strong understanding of risk assessment principles.
- Knowledge of various insurance products and their associated risks (e.g., property, liability, commercial lines).
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, particularly when dealing with brokers and agents.
- Familiarity with underwriting software and financial modeling tools.
- A relevant professional qualification in insurance (e.g., CII) is advantageous.
