About the Role
Our client is seeking an organized and proactive Insurance Underwriting Assistant to support their underwriting team in Derby . This role is crucial in providing administrative and technical support to underwriters, enabling them to make accurate risk assessments and policy decisions efficiently. You will be involved in data entry, documentation review, and liaising with brokers and clients, playing a key role in the smooth functioning of the underwriting department. This hybrid position allows you to collaborate closely with colleagues in our Derby office while offering flexibility for remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist underwriters in evaluating insurance applications by gathering and organizing relevant documentation and data.
- Conduct preliminary risk assessments and research based on underwriter guidance.
- Input and maintain accurate data within the underwriting system and other databases.
- Communicate with insurance brokers, agents, and clients to request missing information or clarify details.
- Prepare policy documents, endorsements, and renewal offers under the supervision of underwriters.
- Support the underwriting team with ad-hoc administrative tasks and special projects as required.
Requirements
- Previous administrative experience, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry .
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- A willingness to learn and develop a comprehensive understanding of underwriting principles.
- Enthusiasm for the insurance sector and a desire for career growth in underwriting.
