About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and thorough Internal Auditor to join their team in Sheffield . This role is essential for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes across the organization. You will conduct independent audits, identify areas of potential risk or non-compliance, and provide recommendations for operational improvements. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of internal audit principles within the banking and finance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute financial, operational, and compliance audits according to the annual audit plan.
• Assess internal control systems to identify weaknesses and recommend improvements.
• Gather and analyze audit evidence, documenting findings clearly and concisely.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports, highlighting key risks and providing actionable recommendations.
• Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations with management.
• Stay current with internal audit standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CIA, ACA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in internal audit or a related field, preferably in financial services.
• Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies, risk assessment, and control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Proficiency in data analysis and audit management software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report-writing capabilities.
