ABOUT THE CLIENT
Our client is a leading organisation operating within a complex enterprise technology environment, supporting critical internal applications and services within Tax Administration. They are looking for an experienced Internal Applications Developer to join their team and help maintain resilient live services while delivering controlled change and continuous improvement.
JAVA DEVELOPER ROLE
As an Internal Applications Developer, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing internal applications within a complex enterprise environment. You will work across both live service support and controlled change, ensuring applications remain reliable while contributing to ongoing improvements.
The role will involve developing and supporting Java applications, working with WebLogic application servers and Oracle databases, as well as supporting batch processing and operational activities.
You will work within established release and change processes, using Git and Maven to manage source code and dependencies, while also working with containerised platforms including Kubernetes.
You’ll need to take ownership of live services, balancing BAU support with development and continuous improvement. The role is collaborative and pragmatic, requiring you to work effectively across a complex application landscape and regularly collaborate with the wider team in Telford.
JAVA DEVELOPER ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Strong experience developing and supporting Java applications within an enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience with WebLogic application servers
- Strong Oracle SQL skills, including complex queries
- Experience using Git within controlled release and development processes
- Experience with Maven for build and dependency management
- Experience working with Kubernetes and containerised platforms
- Strong understanding of live service/BAU support
- Ability to balance operational support with application development and continuous improvement
- Strong ownership, problem-solving and delivery-focused approach
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work across complex application landscapes
- Shell scripting experience desirable
- Experience working in Linux environments and using command-line tools desirable
