About the Role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Junior Air Traffic Controller to join their operations team based at Birmingham Airport . In this critical role, you will be responsible for safely managing the movement of aircraft in the airspace, ensuring separation and efficiency. You will work within a highly regulated and dynamic environment, collaborating closely with pilots and other air traffic control personnel. This position is ideal for individuals with exceptional concentration, decision-making skills, and a dedication to aviation safety, working on-site to manage complex air traffic scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage aircraft movements within assigned airspace using radar, surveillance, and communication systems.
- Issue clearances and instructions to pilots to ensure safe separation between aircraft and prevent collisions.
- Coordinate with adjacent air traffic control units, meteorological services, and airport operations to manage traffic flow effectively.
- Maintain constant vigilance and situational awareness in a high-pressure environment.
- Adhere strictly to established procedures, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and simulator exercises to maintain and enhance skills.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Air Traffic Controller training program.
- Valid Air Traffic Controller license issued by the relevant aviation authority.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
- Strong aptitude for spatial reasoning and understanding complex systems.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
