Junior Civil Engineer - Transportation Projects

About the Role

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Junior Civil Engineer to join their busy transportation team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in the design and delivery of various transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, and public transport facilities. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to all stages of the project lifecycle, from initial concept to construction support. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong foundational knowledge of civil engineering principles, and demonstrate a keen interest in developing their career within the transport sector. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the design and development of road layouts, junction improvements, and associated drainage systems.
• Prepare technical drawings, reports, and calculations under supervision.
• Conduct site visits to assist with inspections, surveys, and construction monitoring.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and safety standards.
• Learn and apply relevant design software and modelling tools for transportation projects.
• Support the preparation of tender documents and contract administration.

  Requirements
• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A strong understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles, particularly related to transportation infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and basic knowledge of Civil 3D or similar design software is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
