Role: Junior Communications Engineer

Reporting to: IT Engineering Lead

Based: Onsite / London

Job Purpose

To provide event IT services to clients, guests and stakeholders as the Junior Communications Engineer , installing CAT5e cabling and services for all connectivity and technology service requirements both physical and wireless. Providing 1st line technical support to clients throughout live events.

• Flexibility with working hours.
• Punctuality.
• Able to work weekends and unsociable hours at some times.

Key Responsibilities

• As Junior Communications Engineer , be the technical lead for an event installation and present key information for review at pre-event meetings.
• Mark-up event floor plans with cabling and Wi-Fi requirements.
• Install event CAT5e cabling, including termination, jumping & testing.
• Provide equipment as ordered (i.e. hubs, access points, patch leads, etc).
• Provide port allocation information to the network team.

Skills & Experience

• Ideally the Junior Communications Engineer will have at least 1 years' experience in a similar role.
• Cabling and terminating of CAT5e.
• Cable patching.
• Wireless technologies awareness.
• Excellent customer service skills and creative problem solving.
• Health and Safety awareness.
• IPAF license (Preferable but not essential).

Event Support

• Provide data connectivity assistance and first line support throughout tenancy period.
• Provide support for telephone services throughout the tenancy period.
• Recording, communicating, and escalating all appropriate tickets.
• Post Event
• Recover any equipment after event.
• Remove all voice and data cabling from exhibition floors and Organisers offices. xwwtmva

General
