Job Description
Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality lighting and furnishing products, supplying the interior design and specification market. Renowned for beautifully designed and expertly made products, they are now looking for a Junior Product Design Engineer to join their Design & Technical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or early-career design engineer to develop their technical and product development skills within a creative and collaborative environment.
The Junior Product Design Engineer Role:
Working alongside experienced designers and engineers, you will support the development of new and existing products, producing accurate CAD data, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Producing 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software
* Creating BOMs, technical specifications and product documentation
* Supporting prototyping, sample inspection, testing and 3D printing
* Liaising with Production, Quality and Procurement teams to resolve technical queries
* Contributing to design reviews and product development projects
* Maintaining accurate CAD, PDM and technical documentation
As a Graduate or Junior Product Design Engineer with up to two years' experience, you should have:
* A degree or HND in Product Design, Design Engineering or a related discipline
* Good knowledge of 3D CAD and technical drawing, ideally SolidWorks
* An understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture
* Good practical problem-solving skills and a commercially aware approach
* The ability to manage multiple projects and work to tight deadlines
* Excellent communication skills and enthusiasm to develop your career
