Kitchen Porter - Busy Pub Restaurant

About the Role

Our client, a popular pub restaurant located in Reading , is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join their busy kitchen team. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment and utensils are washed and stored correctly. This is a vital role supporting the chefs and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, contributing to the overall success of the establishment in Berkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Wash and clean all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, and equipment as required.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including floors, surfaces, and storage areas.
• Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately according to company policy.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the guidance of the chefs, such as peeling vegetables.
• Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods by ensuring sufficient clean equipment is available.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar cleaning role is advantageous.
• Understanding of basic health and safety and hygiene standards in a kitchen environment.
• Ability to work efficiently and independently.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
• A team player with a positive attitude.
