KS1 English Tutor
Inspire a Love of Learning from the Start
We're looking for a KS1 English Tutor to support young learners across Portsmouth, Southampton, and the surrounding Hampshire areas through personalised 1:1 tuition.
Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll help primary-aged children develop their early literacy skills, confidence, and engagement with learning. Many of the pupils we support require a more tailored approach to education and benefit from consistent, positive support outside of a traditional classroom setting.
This role is ideal for education professionals who enjoy working with younger children and making a meaningful impact during the early stages of their educational journey.
Location: Portsmouth, Southampton & Surrounding Areas
Subject: KS1 English
Start Date: September
Hours: Flexible
Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Tuition
Requirements
Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
Experience supporting KS1 pupils
Strong understanding of early literacy and English development
Ability to deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning activities
Experience supporting children with SEND is desirable
Patient, nurturing, and encouraging approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across Portsmouth, Southampton, and surrounding areas

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
Speech, language, and communication needs
EHCPs and additional learning needsYour support will help children build confidence in their reading, writing, phonics, and communication skills while fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
