About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Land Reclamation Specialist to join their environmental services team, based in Bristol . This role is crucial for the restoration and rehabilitation of land affected by mining, industrial activities, or agricultural degradation. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring reclamation projects to promote ecological recovery and ensure land is suitable for beneficial reuse. This position requires a strong understanding of environmental science, soil remediation, and vegetation establishment techniques within the agriculture and forestry sector and related environmental fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive land reclamation and restoration plans.
- Conduct site assessments to identify environmental contaminants and site conditions.
- Oversee the implementation of soil stabilization, erosion control, and revegetation strategies.
- Monitor project progress, environmental impacts, and the success of reclamation efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, environmental scientists, and external contractors to achieve project goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Ecology, Forestry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in land reclamation, environmental remediation, or ecological restoration projects.
- Strong knowledge of soil science, hydrology, and plant ecology.
- Experience with erosion control, revegetation techniques, and site monitoring.
- Familiarity with relevant environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Excellent project management, communication, and fieldwork skills, with the ability to travel to sites around Bristol .
