About the Role

Our client, a renowned animation studio based in Birmingham , is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead 3D Animator to spearhead their animation department. You will be responsible for guiding a team of talented animators, ensuring the highest quality of character and environmental animation across multiple projects. This role is crucial in maintaining artistic vision and technical excellence, driving the creative direction of our animated content. We are seeking a leader who can inspire, mentor, and deliver exceptional animation that brings stories to life.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3D animators , providing technical and artistic guidance.
• Oversee the animation pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality output.
• Set and maintain animation quality standards, ensuring consistency and excellence across all projects.
• Collaborate with directors and art leads to interpret creative briefs and translate them into compelling animated sequences.
• Review animation work, provide constructive feedback, and manage shot assignments.
• Directly contribute to complex animation shots, demonstrating best practices and advanced techniques.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Lead Animator or Senior Animator with significant leadership responsibilities.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in character animation, creature animation, and motion for film or games.
• Expertise in industry-standard animation software such as Maya , Blender, or 3ds Max.
• Deep understanding of animation principles, rigging, character performance, and cinematography.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with performance capture and facial animation is a plus.
