About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Aerospace Propulsion Engineer to join their innovative team in Reading . This senior role requires expertise in the design, development, and testing of advanced jet engine systems and components. You will provide technical leadership, manage project timelines, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver state-of-the-art propulsion solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science as applied to aerospace propulsion, contributing to the company's continued success in developing high-performance engines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and validation of aircraft engine components and systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Oversee the development and implementation of new propulsion technologies and innovative solutions.
- Conduct detailed thermodynamic and fluid dynamic analyses using computational tools (CFD).
- Manage propulsion system testing and integration, troubleshooting any issues that arise during development and validation phases.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers within the propulsion team in Berkshire .
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in propulsion.
- 10+ years of professional experience in aerospace propulsion systems engineering .
- Expertise in jet engine cycles, component design (turbines, compressors, combustors), and performance analysis.
- Proficiency in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software and other relevant engineering simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of materials science, heat transfer, and mechanical design principles relevant to gas turbines.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
