About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Aircraft Structures Engineer to join their prominent engineering division in Portsmouth . This leadership role is integral to the design, analysis, and validation of aircraft structural integrity for both new aircraft development and existing platform enhancements. You will guide a team of structural engineers, ensuring adherence to rigorous safety and performance standards in a hybrid work model. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and analysis of aircraft airframes, wings, and other key components using advanced engineering principles.
- Perform stress analysis, fatigue life prediction, and damage tolerance assessments using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Develop and execute structural test plans, including static and dynamic testing, to validate designs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant aerospace regulations and certification requirements (e.g., EASA, FAA).
- Collaborate with manufacturing, systems, and aerodynamic teams to optimize structural design for weight, performance, and cost.
- Mentor and guide junior structural engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in aircraft structural design and analysis.
- Expertise in FEA software packages (e.g., NASTRAN, ANSYS) and CAD tools.
- Strong understanding of composite materials, metallic structures, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex engineering projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective in both in-office and remote collaboration settings.
