Lead Animator

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and visionary Lead Animator to guide their animation team in Milton Keynes . You will be responsible for setting the animation quality bar and overseeing the creation of high-caliber character and environmental animations that bring virtual worlds to life. This leadership role involves not only artistic direction but also pipeline management, team mentoring, and close collaboration with other departments to ensure cohesive and compelling character performances and gameplay experiences. Key Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise the animation team, providing clear feedback and artistic direction.
• Develop and implement animation standards, best practices, and pipelines for the project.
• Create compelling character animations, including key-framed performances, facial animations, and in-game actions.
• Collaborate with designers and programmers to ensure animations effectively support gameplay mechanics and narrative.
• Review and approve animation assets, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as an Animator or Senior Animator in the game industry, with a proven track record of leading animation efforts.
• Expertise in 3D animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
• Strong understanding of character rigging, animation principles, and storytelling through movement.
• Experience managing and mentoring animation teams.
• A keen eye for detail, timing, and appeal in character performance.
