Lead Application Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Application Security Engineer to head their application security program in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK . This senior role involves integrating security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), conducting security reviews, and leading initiatives to secure their web and mobile applications. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and integrity of the software products, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating closely with development teams to build secure and resilient applications from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of secure coding standards and application security best practices.
• Conduct security code reviews and security testing (SAST, DAST) of applications.
• Develop and manage security tools and processes integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Provide security guidance and training to software development teams.
• Architect and implement security controls for web and mobile applications.
• Manage security vulnerabilities identified in applications and drive their remediation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in application security or software development with a security focus.
• Deep understanding of secure coding principles and common web vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
• Experience with SAST, DAST, and IAST tools.
• Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in web development (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
• Experience leading security initiatives and mentoring engineering teams.
