Lead Architect

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Architect to spearhead significant projects for their practice in Sunderland . This senior position requires a strategic thinker with a proven ability to manage the entire lifecycle of architectural projects, from initial client engagement and conceptualization through to construction oversight and project completion. You will be responsible for leading design teams, fostering innovation, and ensuring that all projects align with the client's vision, budget, and timeline, while upholding the firm's commitment to exceptional design quality and sustainability. This is a key leadership role within a respected firm, offering the chance to shape major developments in Sunderland and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of architectural projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high standards of design and technical execution.
• Manage and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Engage directly with clients to understand their requirements, present design proposals, and manage expectations.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building regulations, planning policies, and health and safety legislation.
• Liaise with consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and address any site issues effectively.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in Architecture (RIBA Part III or equivalent) and chartered architect status.
• Significant experience in leading and managing complex architectural projects, ideally with a portfolio showcasing large-scale developments.
• Expert knowledge of architectural design principles, construction technologies, and relevant software (e.g., Revit , AutoCAD).
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide design teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of contract administration and project management methodologies.
