About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Lead Automation Engineer to join their operations in Nottingham . This role is pivotal in enhancing operational efficiency and safety across their facilities by implementing and managing advanced automation and control systems. You will lead a team of engineers, oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation projects, and ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure within the Oil & Gas industry. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems, including PLC, SCADA, and DCS.
- Oversee projects from conception through to commissioning, ensuring they meet technical and budget requirements.
- Develop and maintain automation standards, best practices, and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior automation engineers and technicians.
- Troubleshoot complex automation issues and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and IT departments to ensure system reliability and integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial automation engineering , with significant experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
- Expertise in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell), SCADA systems, and DCS platforms.
- Strong understanding of process control principles, instrumentation, and safety systems.
- Experience with project management methodologies and leading technical teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
