Lead Automotive Diagnostic Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Automotive Diagnostic Technician to oversee operations at their state-of-the-art facility in Coventry . This role involves leading a team of technicians, diagnosing complex vehicle issues, and ensuring the highest standards of repair and customer service are met. You will be at the forefront of automotive repair technology, utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults across a wide range of vehicle makes and models. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of automotive technicians, providing guidance and technical support.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems using specialized equipment.
• Interpret diagnostic data, technical service bulletins, and repair manuals to identify root causes of faults.
• Develop repair strategies, estimate labour and parts costs, and communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle issues and recommended repairs.
• Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
• Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Diagnostic Technician, ideally within a main dealership or large independent garage.
• Extensive knowledge of modern vehicle electronic systems, engine management, and diagnostic procedures.
• Proficiency with manufacturer-specific diagnostic software and general scan tools.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team.
