About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Automotive Diagnostic Technician to oversee diagnostic operations at their state-of-the-art facility in Newcastle upon Tyne . This leadership role requires a deep technical understanding of modern vehicle systems and advanced diagnostic tools. You will be responsible for leading a team of technicians, ensuring the highest standards of repair quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in complex vehicle diagnostics and a passion for problem-solving in the automotive sector. You will play a crucial role in diagnosing and resolving intricate vehicle issues, ensuring optimal performance and safety for our customers' vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth diagnostics on a wide range of vehicle makes and models, utilizing advanced scan tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Lead and mentor a team of automotive technicians, providing technical guidance, training, and support to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
• Interpret technical service bulletins (TSBs), wiring diagrams, and repair manuals to accurately identify and resolve complex vehicle faults.
• Manage workshop workflow, ensuring efficient allocation of diagnostic tasks and timely completion of repairs to meet customer expectations.
• Conduct quality control checks on completed diagnostic work and repairs, verifying the effectiveness of solutions implemented.
• Stay current with the latest automotive technologies, diagnostic equipment, and industry trends, recommending new tools and techniques as appropriate.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Automotive Technician, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent certification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Expertise in using modern automotive diagnostic equipment, including OEM-specific software and hardware.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle electronic systems, engine management, ABS, airbags, and infotainment systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a technical team.
