About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and meticulous Lead Automotive Painter & Finisher to oversee their body shop operations in Sheffield . This senior role involves leading a team of painters, ensuring the highest quality finish on vehicle repairs and custom paint jobs. You will be responsible for surface preparation, colour matching, application of primers, base coats, and clear coats, as well as final polishing and detailing. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of paint technologies, application techniques, and colour theory, combined with strong leadership skills to manage workflow and mentor team members in South Yorkshire .
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of automotive painters, assigning tasks and overseeing workflow.
- Perform expert vehicle preparation, including sanding, masking, and priming for optimal paint adhesion.
- Achieve precise colour matching using advanced colour-matching systems and techniques.
- Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns to achieve a flawless finish.
- Operate and maintain paint booths, spray equipment, and associated tools.
- Conduct final inspection, polishing, and detailing to meet the highest quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to paint shop operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Automotive Painter & Finisher , with a minimum of 3-5 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of various paint systems (water-based, solvent-based) and application techniques.
- Demonstrated expertise in colour matching and paint defect correction.
- Experience with surface preparation, sanding, and polishing.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional finishing standards.
