Lead Avionics Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Avionics Systems Engineer to spearhead critical projects in Newcastle upon Tyne . This leadership role will involve overseeing the architecture, development, and integration of advanced avionics systems for next-generation aircraft. You will guide a team of engineers, ensuring technical excellence and timely project delivery within a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and validation of complex avionics systems , ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
• Define and manage system requirements, architecture, and interface specifications for avionics subsystems.
• Oversee the integration of avionics hardware and software components, ensuring seamless operation within the aircraft platform.
• Manage and mentor a team of avionics engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Conduct system performance analysis, testing, and troubleshooting to resolve complex technical challenges in Newcastle .
• Collaborate closely with airframers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure program success and airworthiness certification.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in avionics systems engineering , with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of avionic architectures, communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, AFDX), and sensor technologies.
• Experience with systems engineering tools and methodologies, including requirements management and MBSE.
• Familiarity with safety-critical software development processes and certification requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
