About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Lead Backend Developer to spearhead the development of their next-generation microservices platform, working fully remotely from Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of microservices using modern backend technologies (e.g., Java, Python, Go).
- Architect scalable, resilient, and high-performance backend systems and APIs.
- Mentor and guide a team of backend developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps engineers to deliver features efficiently.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, code review processes, and testing strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring system stability and performance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in backend software development , with a significant portion in lead or architect roles.
- Proven experience designing and building microservices architectures at scale.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and messaging queues.
- Expertise in at least one major backend programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Python, Go).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills for a remote setting.
