About the Role
Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Bioinformatician to join their cutting-edge research team in Brighton . This leadership role is instrumental in driving the analysis of large-scale biological data, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, to support drug discovery and development efforts. You will be responsible for overseeing bioinformatics projects, developing robust analytical pipelines, and mentoring a team of bioinformaticians. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in computational biology, statistical analysis, and programming, combined with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with biologists, chemists, and clinicians. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of bioinformatics analyses for diverse biological datasets.
- Develop, validate, and maintain scalable bioinformatics pipelines and tools for high-throughput data processing.
- Supervise and mentor junior bioinformaticians, guiding their technical development and project work.
- Collaborate with research scientists to interpret complex biological data and generate actionable insights.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in bioinformatics and computational biology.
- Communicate findings effectively to scientific and management teams through reports and presentations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in bioinformatics, with a significant portion in leadership or supervisory roles.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with bioinformatics libraries and databases.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods, machine learning, and data mining techniques.
- Experience with genomic and transcriptomic data analysis (e.g., RNA-Seq, WGS).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills.
