About the Role

Our client is searching for a talented and inspiring Lead Character Artist to spearhead their character art team in Stoke-on-Trent . In this vital role, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the highest standards of character creation, guiding a team of artists to develop memorable and visually stunning characters. You will oversee the entire character art pipeline, from initial concept to final in-game asset, ensuring artistic consistency and technical excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of character artists, providing artistic direction and feedback.
• Oversee the creation of high-quality character models, textures, and materials from concept to final asset.
• Establish and enforce art style guidelines and technical requirements for character assets.
• Collaborate with character technical artists and animators to ensure characters are performant and well-integrated into the game.
• Review and approve character art deliverables, ensuring they meet project goals and quality standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Character Art for games, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character modeling, sculpting, texturing, and PBR material creation skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard software such as ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
• Deep understanding of anatomy, form, silhouette, and visual storytelling through character design.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
