About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Character Artist to guide their character creation team in Bristol . You will be responsible for overseeing the development of high-quality, compelling characters that bring our projects to life. This role requires a strong artistic sensibility, technical proficiency, and excellent leadership skills to mentor the team and ensure artistic consistency and excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of character artists, setting artistic direction and providing constructive feedback.
- Oversee the creation of high-fidelity 3D character models, including sculpting, retopology, texturing, and rigging preparation.
- Ensure all character assets meet the project's aesthetic goals, technical requirements, and performance budgets.
- Collaborate closely with concept artists, art directors, and technical artists to establish character designs and pipelines.
- Develop and enforce character art pipelines, standards, and best practices.
- Manage character art tasks, timelines, and resource allocation for the team.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in 3D character art , with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional character modeling, texturing, and sculpting skills.
- Expertise in industry-standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
- Deep understanding of anatomy, form, proportion, and material definition.
- Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and character rigging/implementation is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
