About the Role
Our client is searching for a highly experienced Lead Chemical Engineer with expertise in scale-up to drive critical projects from their Manchester base. This senior position will be responsible for overseeing the successful transition of new chemical processes from laboratory and pilot scales to full commercial production. You will provide technical leadership, manage project timelines, and ensure that all scale-up activities are conducted safely and efficiently. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned engineer to make a significant impact on new product introductions and process innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical aspects of process scale-up from R&D through to commercial manufacturing.
- Develop and execute detailed scale-up plans, considering mass transfer, heat transfer, and reaction kinetics.
- Conduct rigorous risk assessments and HAZOP studies for new or modified processes.
- Oversee the commissioning and validation of new process equipment and plant modifications.
- Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing operations.
- Manage project budgets and timelines effectively for scale-up initiatives.
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent, with a degree in Chemical Engineering .
- Minimum 10 years of experience in chemical process development and scale-up, preferably in specialty chemicals or pharmaceuticals.
- Proven experience in designing and managing pilot plant operations and commercial plant commissioning.
- Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals and thermodynamics .
- Experience with project management methodologies and regulatory compliance (e.g., GMP if applicable).
