About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Chemical Engineer to head their process development team in Birmingham . This pivotal role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and scaling of novel chemical processes, ensuring they meet stringent safety, environmental, and economic standards. You will mentor a team of talented engineers, foster a collaborative environment, and drive innovation in process technology. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and optimization of complex chemical manufacturing processes from pilot to full-scale production.
• Oversee and mentor a team of chemical engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including COMAH.
• Manage capital projects related to process upgrades and new plant installations.
• Develop and manage process documentation, including P&IDs, PFDs, and HAZOP studies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to align process strategies with business objectives.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering .
• Extensive experience (10+ years) in process engineering, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity.
• Proven track record in scaling up chemical processes and managing complex engineering projects.
• Expertise in process safety analysis (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and advanced statistical analysis techniques.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
