About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Chemical Process Engineer to spearhead process innovation and optimization initiatives in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . This senior position involves leading a team of engineers, mentoring junior staff, and driving the technical direction for critical process engineering projects. You will play a key role in enhancing operational performance, ensuring robust safety protocols, and contributing to the company's strategic goals through expert application of chemical engineering principles. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of chemical process engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement advanced process control strategies to optimize plant performance and product consistency.
- Oversee the design and execution of capital projects, from conceptualization through to commissioning and handover.
- Conduct rigorous Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and implement mitigation strategies to ensure workplace safety.
- Collaborate with R&D, operations, and maintenance departments to ensure seamless integration of new processes and technologies.
- Manage external engineering contractors and vendors to ensure project deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
Requirements
- BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering with a strong academic record.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in process engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated expertise in process design, optimization, scale-up, and troubleshooting within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop technical teams.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant safety standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental best practices.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
