Lead Civil Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a highly regarded international consultancy, is seeking a proactive Lead Civil Design Engineer to join their expanding remote team. This role focuses on delivering critical civil infrastructure designs, including site development, drainage, and highway elements for a range of projects across the UK. You will take a leadership position, guiding design processes, collaborating with project managers and stakeholders virtually, and ensuring the highest standards of technical delivery. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design process for various projects, ensuring the development of robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.
• Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for earthworks, roads, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians within the remote team, providing technical guidance and quality control.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, planning authorities, and other disciplines through virtual communication channels.
• Conduct site feasibility assessments and provide technical support during the construction phase as required.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant national standards, environmental regulations, and client requirements.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil design engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE or equivalent professional qualification.
• Proficiency in industry-standard civil design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design packages (e.g., MicroDrainage).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with proven experience working in a remote or distributed team setting.
