About the Role
Our client, a highly regarded international consultancy, is seeking a proactive Lead Civil Design Engineer to join their expanding remote team. This role focuses on delivering critical civil infrastructure designs, including site development, drainage, and highway elements for a range of projects across the UK. You will take a leadership position, guiding design processes, collaborating with project managers and stakeholders virtually, and ensuring the highest standards of technical delivery. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while providing significant opportunities to influence major infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil design process for various projects, ensuring the development of robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.
- Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and specifications for earthworks, roads, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure.
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technicians within the remote team, providing technical guidance and quality control.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, planning authorities, and other disciplines through virtual communication channels.
- Conduct site feasibility assessments and provide technical support during the construction phase as required.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant national standards, environmental regulations, and client requirements.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil design engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the ICE or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proficiency in industry-standard civil design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage design packages (e.g., MicroDrainage).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with proven experience working in a remote or distributed team setting.
